In general, what does a 4-day-old silkie look like? I lost my baby banty, and my mom has promised to take me to the CO-OP to get me another baby. I wanted a Silkie in the first place, but I took my banty home because I thought I could nurse her to health and she looekd sick. Anyway, they'd be three days old tomorrow. I know Silkies came in with the shipments, and I'm not sure what a baby Silkie would look like. What should I look for in order to end up with a Silkie?

The biggest thing is black skin/beak and 5 toes.

I wonder if they still have any silkies.

They have black to slate colored skin and legs. Feathered legs and five toes.

The feed store may not be any help. When I went to pick up silkies from the banty bin, the staff told me there weren't any silkies left and they had no clue what the rest were.

I was able to spot the last two silkies. A buff and black.

Good luck.

This is the buff at 3-4 days old

At 3.5 wks - the chick on the feeder is a black cochin.

I'm curious if silkies can mix breed? I have a silkie that has all black skin on it's body and black toes, etc...but ONE white toe in there...does that mean it's a mix breed silkie?

I think some would say that means a lesser quality Silkie not necessarily a mix. Mine are hatchery stock so not top quality either, but
