What does a blood ring look like?

Last night was the last night I'm candling. I'm a klutz and I could barely see through the three I decided to check last night. Two had dark spots that moved with veins. One what looked like one large vein that went around the egg... is that a blood ring? If so.. what does that mean? Is the chick dead

That does sound like a blood ring.

A blood ring is a fertile egg that died young.

Thanks for the info! Well it least the little guy didn't struggle or anything... I dropped one egg the other day BUT I don't think it was fertile, egg white came out and there was no blood. So I think I have at least 5 or 6 good ones... I dropped one, one has a blood ring, and one appears to be empty. I started out with 9. DH thought I had too many

Now as long as some of those turn out to be girls I'll be all set haha!
