What does a dozen eggs REALLY cost to produce?

I took the expected life of the coop at 15 years and divided the cost to make it and divided it to get the yearly cost; took that figure and divided it by 12 months, them by 365 for days to get a daily cost for the coop.

Should be coop cost divided by 15 years ... Then divided by 365 ... To get the cost per days ... Skip the month!

yes .. and i work form home so it is extra fun to see them
of course when THEY see me, they look at me as if they never have eating all day! so there i go and give them more food or treats!!

I should post a video of my girls running at me when they see me - They stop doing whatever they are doing and run as fast as they can towards me. If I am outside they get on my feet, jump up on my lap or just follow me around...They love to just hang out with me or any other human really. They truly are fun critters to have around!

Hi, I'm fairly new to this site and just got my first chicks last June. My 9 girls are down to 7 thanks to hawks, but they are well protected now with two large runs, and the ability to go out into the wild as long as I am around.

I think that there are lots of fools out there who are willing to take advantage whenever they get the opportunity. You did something nice, and delivered the eggs. For them to respond in that way was obnoxious, and I'm glad that you wont deal with them again.

Your post is perfect timing for me because I am going to sell eggs - only about 2 dozen a week, and I'm not going to sell them to "strangers." I went to the local Whole Foods store and they are selling 1/2 dozen nonGMO/cage free/free range eggs for $3.79...

I think that I might do $3.50 for 1/2 dozen.

Time will tell. In the mean time, the eggs benedict is great!
