they are very pretty in overall type:) but they are not what the standard calls for in gray. but they are certainly examples you can work on gray from:)
the light hackled, dark headed one looks smutty a bit. you'd want to use birds for breeding grays with the absolute least amount of gold / red. Also please note the standard does not call for pencilling keep that in mind also. Grays are tuff but if you love the color variety stick with them. this color bird needs dedicated breeders.

Here are some more pictures. He's a little camera shy. I'm new to chickens and at first I was thinking splash but he's really light colored without spots I see on some. Then I was thinking maybe blue or grey?

I found this on another thread here on byc: "Blue Silkies should have dark navy blue hackles and a lighter body, and Gray Silkies should have light silver hackles with a darker body."
So I think your bird is blue :)

, I am very, very partial to gray animals and will be so pleased if they are. The oldest of these pictured are 8 weeks old.

I do have some others that have the barring or penciling that I am calling silver partridge, is that correct?

I was so happy to find this thread! I have a gray and have had problems finding out if I am on the right track...what he is for certain...and what to breed him to as he is the only grey I have. I would love to find someone to buy hatching egg from but haven't so far so...somehow I have got to figure out how to duplicate with what I have. Here is Mozart, This is when he was about 7 months. I will try to get some more recent pics now that he is all grown up. His wings do not have any penciling in them. They are solid grey.

I love the pattern on his chest.

Thank you so much for any help or advice. If anyone knows of anyone who would be willing to sell a few eggs I would be so appreciative.
