Im canadian so i really know nonthing about the npip program. How does it work exactly? Does being Npip allow you now to ship poultry and eggs accross the border?

No you have to have different papers to export them and quarantine them.

As for hatching chicks, you may have an easier route. Our hatcheries do that.

Theres a few extra things you have to fill out but from my understanding, NPIP testing covers most of the testing that needs to be done to take poultry by land from the US to Canada. Check with your Import Export people to see what all has to be done.

National Poultry Improvement Plan, it means your birds are tested semi annually for a small handful of the the more nasty diseases and some other benefits. It also gives the government access to your flock. It means nothing in Canada as it is a U.S. program although your government may recognise it.

There are no hatcheries any more atleast that i know of that ship directly to canada they will ship to a address within the usa but you have to cross the border and pick them up. Of course the paper work is all done and the birds are vacinated etc but they wont ship them accross borders.
