What does Columbian mean???

Columbian color pattern is called so because of the initial introduction of Columbian Wyandottes at the Columbian Exhibition/Worlds Fair in the late 1890s. They named it so in commemoration of the event.....

My understanding is that a Columbian has a black head, tail and maybe the tips of the wings, with the body being primarily either white, buff, chestnut or mahogany.

And if I am wrong someone will jump in here and correct me.

What the selling of the bird is telling you is that the bird you are looking at does not display that color feature but can pass it on to offspring.

The blackness on neck wings and tail is already present on the non carrier.
Also columbian is dominant and would show, especially on males. Females would keep more black pattern on their backs.
