I don't use DE until mine go to the grow-out coop and even then, in small quantities just under their roost. I never use it in the brooder. And I use it more when the atmosphere is damp than when it's dry. It will make a very dusty environment if you use too much. I use it more in nestboxes that have straw in them. I put some in most bags of feed to kill any bugs that might make it inside.
