Solved What does following mean?

Does anybody know what following means? Sometimes I get alerts saying somebody is following me. Does it mean that you will be alerted when the person you are following post something?

When you follow a member their activity will go into your news feed which can be found here if you click on your account ~

Vice versa for anyone who follows you, your activity will go into their newsfeed.
