What does low pitched frog/duck like sound mean? (opposite from happy chirps)

When my male makes those noises, hes just horny and wanting attention from the girls. He did it a lot more when I did not have enough hens. Now he hasn't done it since, unless he wants a girlfriend to come over.

thanks, i'm 99% sure i figured out what it is. Yes it is a male likely, and it's starting to make an actaul crow more and more. the hum/low-pitched croak is a precursor to the full crow. it takes about a week to "practice"

i noticed it's trying to peck/grab the back of the necks of other quails and "mount" it from behind. before/after this sound. of course, with no success since all of them just run away from him right away lol.

i hope it doesnt get violent.

My males took a bit to learn to crow properly.
