What does P&L mean regarding cotunix quail?

I received this message from a guy who is so full of himself that he doesnt want to explain his comment to a lowly hobbyist such as myself. Once he discovered I was not a breeder I was not worthy of his time.
He wrote " The P&L game birds get really mean compared to my other lines of coturnix, get some females before your males start ripping each other apart. Yes, they actually rip each other skin off since U Alberta gathered wild stock they don't act/fight domesticated. The smallest of my P&L stock will bully my wilds and goldens. If you get some be careful your cheap wild females dont get ripped apart. Also make sure they're not too big for the smaller P&L birds to breed with or you'll have bald and battered hens. "

Do you agree with his comment and what does he mean by P&L? I told him I hatched some from Celadon eggs if that helps with the decipher.

Most likely a reference to Perry Schoefield of P&L Gamebirds in Canada.


From his website it explains.

Oh thank you so much. So this guy is NOT referring to the Celadon eggs as much as the Schofield eggs I mentioned.

So do folks agree that these birds (hatched from Schofield eggs) are excessively aggressive?

ermm.. no. it just depends on which bird you hatch. each has its own characteristics.

From my experience I have to say I agree. I have hatched some Texas A&M who were little buggers, growling at me etc. Most of my birds are not that way. The only Scofield I have so far seems pretty tame, but it is only just over three weeks old. I was just concerned because Im planning to hatch some more Schofield eggs soon but I have mostly wild and goldens in a community quail pen. I am planning to house the adults together, greys, whites, goldens and wild.

ya, its fine. just make sure not to put too many males (1-3 ratio)
