I have read posts referring to the egg song. What does this sound like. I have a chicken I thought was a hen but has made an odd sound sorta like a crow in the morning when I turn on the light in the barn.

I am probably hoping it is the egg song instead of a bad or not very practised rooster crow. I also read some where on this sight where someone said a hen could sometimes crow. Is that true?

One can only hope.

Every egg song sounds a bit different- rarely do they ever resemble song!

I thought I just ticked my hen off when I stole her freshly laid egg. She sang for about 5 minuets!! I have 25 Isa Browns and have been getting an egg every other day or so and have been wondering who has been laying them and now I know. Yesterday was the first I heard the song. I am hoping that the others will follow suit soon.

My BA is getting LOUDER and LONGER every day. She makes the others go crazy. My cockeral, Captain Jack Sparrow, has not even crowed yet. But he gets so excited and copies her. It's hilarious. And on Saturday I found my BA in one nesting box and him in the other. Crazy chickens!
