What does this sound mean?

Yep! You have an egg symphony going on!! :lau Like 8 chicks said, it's not an exact art... hens are super vocal. They sing for lots of reasons... and sometimes for no reason at all! I've had plenty of "false songs" also, where I checked the nesting box after a hen popped out of it singing, but, since I don't speak chicken, I didn't realize that the song she was singing was "Sorry for taking up the good nesting box ladies, False alarm!"
It's so weird! Piper laid for a week without saying a word. Like now, she's in the box now maybe laying an egg and not a word!

I swear mine generally don’t sing for an egg. “We knocked over the food give us more.” “Mom, she’s hogging the nest box.” Mostly mine seem to complain. LOL If a girl is really having a hard time deciding on a nest location your rooster may try to help her. He will talk to her and show her a nest spot.

Yep. Mine do what sounds like an egg song sometimes when they want treats, or there's a predatory animal nearby. They've learned that when I hear that sound I go out to check for eggs, and they use it to try to get me to bring food or chase off the animal. Really smart, but really manipulative. Ha!

It never ceases to amaze me just how preprogrammed they are.

I agree either a victory song or encouragement to others. I think it is hilarious how the one white speckled chicken is seeming to check out all the boxes for the "best hood" for egg deposits
