It was constant for a good 30 minutes and is still sporadically going on now. Was concerned about respiratory or that maybe she ate something bad.

Of course, she's also due to lay an egg at anytime. Her comb is bright red, like Sweetums.

You all know what you're talking about! This is Sweetums' first egg! It WAS a lamaze class!

They make all kinds of noises and can coordinate on the raucous cacophony.
Not much noisier than a bunch of pullets at point of lay.

Sounds like the egg song. My hens do that all the time even if they don’t lay an egg. They just want the world to think they worked hard-but they haven’t! Lol, I love my hens.

Edith is just being chatty. She is a very pretty girl! You have some beautiful hens! Before you had hens I bet you never thought you'd be asking these questions. Isn't it so funny how we all change the instant we get these birds... and how quickly they take over our lives!?! I sometimes feel like a first-time parent all over again!

Hahahaha. I never, in a million years, thought I'd be asking these questions. And thank you! They are very pretty birds, each with their distinct personalities. And I look forward to expanding the flock... I was wondering if Edith, the largest hen and top of the pecking order behind the rooster, was slightly embarrassed because the two runts at the bottom both were first to lay this week... hahaha.

I never knew chickens had such personality. All of mine are different. From shy and quiet to loud and boisterous. Some are aloof and don't want anything to do with me and I have others that will take a snuggle happily. I've officially become a crazy chicken lady. LOL
