We try to get to Sun Moutain Lodge every winter, and we truly hope to get snowed in a few extra days if we're lucky.

In the long run, though, we like being nearer the coast and good seafood... rather than the inland ranch country. Also, I grow hay, grain, alfalfa and corn without needing irrigation. That accounts for a lot... except I'm only about 4' above sea level.

SeaChick, your house is soooo lovely! That era of homes is absolutely my favorite. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and the old neighborhoods are full of houses of a similar style. Really a beauty inside, too. Your work has really paid off!

I also hear you about the old farmhouse now eco house. I think we are moving in the same direction. We have always wanted a log cabin, and if we can do the rest with salvaged materials and solar power, I'm in!

The rental we live in right now is heated with DIESEL

Here's our humble abode. The space between the garage and the house is the 3-season room.

There's a brick patio and walkway behind the flower beds.

The barn with 3 of the grands playing in the sandbox. We have a fire pit where the chairs are.

We have 5 acres with only about 3/4 acre open. The rest is trees, trees, trees!

Sun Mountain Lodge is about 30 minutes from our house.

We're west of Okanogan about 12 miles (up the Loup, towards Twisp). It's pretty over in Winthrop/Mazama.

I love this thread! Looking at houses is as much fun as looking at everyones coops!

My house isnt really a farm house, but it is OLD. Built in 1728, it is a historical house in our town. I want to share it with you because we have spent the last 5 years renovating with 2 babies and full time jobs! So I am going to OVERSHARE here!

Before (inside was horrendous):

Here's our farm in northern France - it's beautiful we have a big barn, a lovely large pond with a chalet and acres of fields! The house look old but it's very modern inside and is heaven!!! It over 100 years old and was bombed during WW1 and WW2.

200 meters in-front of the house there's a fresh water river full of trout, i went swimming there and found bullets from WW1 in the gun holster and belt, i also found human bones from soldiers who had died! arm boned and a skull, I also found a live german grenade, all untouched for 90 years! it's amazing!!!!!

The river is see through so clean, it's full of trout and is perfect for canoeing, there are rapids down stream, about 500 meters from the farm theres a village, you can collect milk from one farm, eggs from the other and theres a tiny 'french' bar where the old french village drunk who goes there everyday, he tells lots of stories!!! In the back of the farm there's a WW1 bunker!!!!

I've really only been once in the summer as we like to go in the dead of winter. I always thought maybe someday I'd end up over there, as long as it doesn't overdevelop. I guess that's the pressure on farmland everywhere really, though.
