In high school I moved to Seattle. One of the teachers asked me about my name (a Samoan family name). He then asked me some questions about Samoa. I explained that I knew nothing about it having grown up in Louisiana with my mom and stepdad. He laughed and said he'd never met a Cajun Samoan before. It just stuck.

Mine is a username I've used a lot of places for years--- combining my occupation (nurse) and nickname (given to me by my niece about 27 years ago), Nettie- which is short for Annette. It's just stuck. Not super original, but it works
