What Dog Breeds Work Well with Hens?

From experience, i'd say rough collies. Every one I have ever met has been gentle and kind. My mom used to own two!

I have a pound puppy that was allegedly welped in the goose pen. Best chicken dog ever. My late labx was born on a farm and as soon as her eyes were open, she helped with feeding chores and was beat up by a momma duck. Great around chickens. Never trained either.

My pound puppy I didn't think I'd be able to trust with the chickens - she has a tendency to chase ducks and geese. But she's fabulous with the girls....

I was leaning towards Collies and all your comments are confirming this. But I have an affinity for Collies because my parents had a very gentle one when I was a small child. I really appreciate this forum. Thank you all for you amazing advice.

Just recently got our first chicks ever. 10 total 4 favs 6 buffs and...5 kids lol. Im a huge fan of the English Bull Dog and as long as my last one knew what she could chew on then she was fine. In no way at all was she aggresive but quite large and looked mean. Her name was Sissy lol and i couldnt imagine doing anything other then slobbering all over them. But as i am currently looking into getting another one...whats your thoughts, good or bad idea?

Socialize and supervise. Like I mentioned before puppies, in their natural exhubrance can seriously hurt or kill a chicken just "playing". Even the "perfect breed" may have individual tweaks so make sure you have ways to keep them separated as needed.

Just kidding, border line collies were bred to nip at a sheep feet but not to bite( I like watching dog shows)I believe, if I didn't get my facts right please correct me
