Border collies are great farm dogs. They are used for herding not guarding. They are vert high energy dogs that become bored if they don't have something to do. If you put them IN the yard with the chickens they will probably herd them around the yard all day...

me and my wife have plenty of time, we can train him all day(but it is for first time training for us and the dog i hope we do good job...)
