What duck?

Hens get killed from breeding because the Drakes grab onto the head with the open skull. My friend took in 7 Crested Buff. Has only Drakes left. Hens were all killed.
Yuck. Poor things. I can see why you say they shouldn't be bred. I know that doesn't happen with crested chickens, but I wonder if it does with the crested Roman geese? I hope not.

It was jumping and diving splashing about all over! That's what caught my attention. It looked quite nice but different with the feathers on its head. I guess that's the crest.
Domestic ducks do all of that, too. The coloring and crest are not things you find in wild mallards. It's probably an escapee or the descendant of an escapee.

I don't know much about ducks. I know a mallard though! So I'm learning! Thanks
No problem. All domestic ducks except Muscovies are descended from mallards. So when you see a duck in the wild that looks mallardish but has different coloring, a crest or a larger or different body shape, that means it must be at least part domestic duck. He probably escaped or was released.
