I have tons of blackberry vines and would like something to eat them and keep them under control. What are my choices? Also, does anyone know if geese will keep the grass eaten down? With the price of gas these days ... I can't afford to run the lawn mower.

Thanks!

Well, here, the deer eat them, thorns and all, but if you don't already have deer, then I doubt this will help. My chickens have started eating them too. Have you let your chickens near them?

My goats can mow down a patch of them in no time. They seem to prefer them to the nice grassy pasture.

I thought about goats but I don't know anything about them except they are hard to keep penned in. Thanks for the suggests.

I have a stupid Lab that eats them.......thorns and all. He also loves to dig up hydrangea plants. But he protects the chickens, so I guess I can't give him away. Oh, yeah, my kids love him to pieces too.

Good luck!

When goats are penned up with yummy brush like blackberries, poison ivy/oak, etc...you would have no trouble keeping them in the fence. Once it runs out...ya better either move them or create a mini Fort Knox!

I have had friends rent a goat from me in the past ... Use some livestock panels keep em for however long it take s ( which with muy old goats would'nt take long ) then ship em back home .. with lots of folks having kids around now most people would probably be happy to get rid of em for a few days ..

I plan to get some Sebastopol Geese next year. Can I have a goat or 2 and a flock of geese in the same area?(close to half an acre)
Are Goats hard to care for?
