I've been candling my eggs (day 7) and seem to see some really good development and others seem like duds.

Some of the eggs don't seem to have a short snout on one side and a more pointed side - they are symetrical. How do you know how to put them back into the bator? Which side up? Or doesn't it matter?

ps. I have one group of eggs that have what appears to be a very speckled shell and there doesn't appear to be any development in most of them. Could a thinner more porous eggshell cause this problem?

Thanks for any insight. I'm saddened to not see some development after 7 days.

Oh, also how long can you leave the egg out of the bator for candling?

Put the eggs back in with the air cell up. Allowing the eggs to cool for 30 or so mins. wont hurt them at all
