Just discovered one of my mature laying hens have damaged wattle, comb, head and back above tail feathers. Bloody. Looks like rooster might have done damage. She will not come out of hen house. Have separated rooster. What kind of first aid can I give her? 1) Her feathers around neck are bloody, can they be cleaned or is it necessary? 2) Can a simple antibiotic be applied to the back of the head where she can't reach to peck? What can I do for her???? She is scared and does not look good. This is a first for me.

When my hen was attacked by another, and had torn comb, I brought her in, washed off the blood. I used OTC polysporin, several times a day, after re-washing. And kept a close eye on her. She healed up really well, and I got rid of the other hen...

I forgot, you should do a good exam and see if she's needing stitches, depending on how deep her wounds are...
