It is a wooden wendy house, with glass windows. Probably about 4 X 4 metres (No that isn't a spelling error here in South Africa

I see some peeps are using river sand. Is it good? I have wood shavings, (we call it saw dust), but haven't covered the entire floor with it. Should I?

I have basically put wood shavings it in the nest boxes only.

What do you suggest? I don't want anything high maintenance or expensive. Should I put a plastic cover down first?

Thanks!

Terminology notwithstanding, I use pine shavings on floor of the coop and in the nesting boxes. I use sand in the run.

Pine shavings such as depicted here are not what I consider to be sawdust. http://www.abdistribution.co.za/

To me, sawdust looks more like sand or flour.

If you mean plastic film or sheeting to cover the floor of the coop, no. I might be torn, then become a problem. Sheet goods such as linoleum have been used. I have a wooden floor that is painted, then covered with pine shavings.

Ok, it is pine shavings that I have. But my maintenance guy cut all the long grass (straw) along the farm fence on friday and covered the floor with it. It smells SO fresh.
Plus its free. :) It seems they love it.

(DPC) Damp proof course is what Ill probably look at.
