What form of feed do you prefer

I don't know why that is so difficult to get right, I've had the same problem before so now I double check before I leave the feed store

If your hens toss food out of the feeder you can always get some wiggle wire to put in the feeder. It makes it harder for them to move the food around and out with their beaks. I've used it in both troughs and round. It used to be suggested for turkeys and I got some of the old feeders for them, but I use a gravity pig feeder for them instead. Found that the wiggle wire works better for the chickens.

I was feeding organic feed from VA, but the shipping to CA was not worth it. Switched my girls to pellets and they don't like them. They like Their whole grain stuff; only thing is is that the organic from VA has a lot of alfalfa etc. powder in it, they eat up the grains and leave the powder. Pellets are much more efficient, BUT my girls won't really eat them. Will they adapt to the pellets? They are only 28 weeks and one just started to lay. I contemplated making my own, but that takes too much science with the salt, kelp, fish meal, bone meal, etc.

I use to have that problem at a store that was about 20 miles away and every time they messed up, I requested 1/2 off my total because of the drive inconvenience and got it. They started paying attention after that.
