    Hey It's Brandon
I recently acquired 12 bantam breeds. 7 are silkies. I got them off a friend as a present, because i have been looking for silkies for ages, and couldnt find them here in wales (UK).he bought them off a breeder and forgot to ask the age. I am clueless as i have only ever had regular fowl chicks. Could You please see if you can help, as i need to know ASAP, some people are saying 6-7 weeks and need to be off heat, and others say 2, so i kept them on to be sure. I need to know if I should change them to growers as well, i havent switched just incase. If any one can tell the gender of the chicks as well that will be fab. Oh, and can I keep bantams with the others, or should i put them in a seperate run & coop? I have 16 normal fowl, and 2 khaki campbell ducks.

You have to upload your photos to somewhere public, like photobucket or flickr, then for example from Flickr right click on the photo and copy the URL link. Then use that in between the . I think you did it right in your earlier post, your photos are just not hosted in the right place for us to see them!

they look around 4-5 weeks. with silkies the gender takes a little longer to determine for sure than most, i'd just wait until you hear crowing [IMG]

Thanks! i was desperate to know! When would you recommend off heat, growers and outside? i have a separate run made for them. Ive had chicks before, in fact i have 6 8 wk olds and a hen setting eggs, but never bantams, i heard they have different requirements? [IMG]

nope, they'll be fine outside and on grower at 6-8 weeks like any other chicken unless the weather conditions are extreme [IMG] very pretty silkies, BTW, i love that buff one! [IMG]
