What gender are my barred rocks

To little are 6 weeks the lighter color one is 8 weeks and the big one is 12 weeks

Last two are obvious cockerels, and maybe the first one too, it's wattle is awful pink.

One pure Barred Rock cockerel the 3rd one.

The last one is a black Sex-link, he's only carrying one copy of the barring gene.


I'm questioning the other 2. I'm not sure if they're pure Barred Rock pullets, or more Black Sex-link cockerels.

How do you tell the difference between a barred rock and a sex link roo? Just curious.

Barred Rock males will be light barred, or Double Barred.

Black Sex-links will be Dark Barred, or single Barred, & occasionally will have color leakage. Some will have yellow legs, some will have white legs.

Thank you everyone they are supposed to me 3. Hens and 1 roo. The farm said if more than one came out to be roos i can bring it back and they will exchange

You got them from a farm? Then the last 3 can be a mix of anything plus Barred Rock.

But only to know if they're pure, I'm talking about the other two, is to let them grow up more.

Well i will be be returning the biggest one for sure and exchanging him. That one is a mean bugger while the light color one is really friendly

Out if the small 2 one has a longer tail than the other would that be a sign of a roo
