What gender are these ameraucanas?

Erin, is there a specific grouping of photographs showing Americauna "colors" that you listed (Rooster vs Hen, cockrell vs pullet, baby chick too!)? Also, is there information available how what to breed with what to produce the desired color standard?

I can sometimes find 1 or 2 throughout the forum, in books, various online sites. But by the time I look for another, I have to start over again. I've read alot of material regarding the Ameracaunas, but their specific feather coloring, shank colorings and comb variations are hard to pin down. With respect in comparison to the often gorgeous Easter Eggers that come along the way, I think they are both excellent. Just confusing.

Would love to find away to eliminate the mislabeling issues and educate folks who sell these birds, who are most often adding to the confusion of these 2 breeds.
Sounds like a good project to pull together.

Thanks in advance.

The Ameraucana Breeders Club http://www.ameraucana.org/ has photos of roosters, hens and chicks, both bantams and large fowl, in all 8 color varieties.

I can't tell from the pic if the first bird has a straight comb or a smaller pea comb. Pea combs are closely linked to colored eggs--green and blue. If she has a straight comb she's more likely to lay a brown/pinkish egg.

I could get together some pictures, however, I do worry about copyright and that business. Try checking out the Ameraucana Breeders Club. http://www.ameraucana.org/faq.html It has a photo section with all of the accepted SOP colors in both chicks, hens, and roosters. Never mind, I see someone else has already given you the link.
