What gender is my chicken?

Hello everyone!

This forum has been super informative for me in the past and this is my first post. I picked up what I was told an Ameraucana hen about 6 weeks ago. I'm guessing it's around 10 weeks old now. Lately, the comb and tail feathers are leading me to believe it might be a roo. Hoping that y'all with more experience might be able to chime in with your opinions. Thanks!

Looks to be a cockerel. I would guess it is closer to 12 weeks

I believe you’ve got yourself a cockerel. I see some red feathering on the shoulders and the comb is very red for only 10 weeks old.

Bummer that’s what I was thinking though. He’s so sweet and gets along with the pullet. We also have two older hens. Hopefully we can swap him out w/o causing too much of a disruption.

that's a dude. same thing happened when I ordered a "pullet" from TSC. the hatchery has really skilled workers, but they have to identify hundreds of birds every day, and mistakes happen.
