I received this turkey for free at 2 days old because it was spinning in circles peeping very loudly and was all alone.  SO of course I felt awful and the farm store gave it to me if I gave it a good home :)

I decided to throw it in with the chicks and see what happened.  It found food and water and here we are at 8 weeks and I have a turkey that spins and peeps loudly still if its unsure where it is at or if all the chicks are away from it.

Turkey is named   TURKEY LURKEY :)

OK so What do you gals and gals think Is it a Boy or Girl?  I have NEVER had a turkey before.  This is a charity case lol

Lol we named our turkey, turkey lurkey also... we also have one and it looks similar to ours... to me i think its a bronze breasted turkey thats what ours was... we still have issues figuring our out for male/female... everyone here loves the turkey tho and he is so friendly especially when we give him meal worms...

I'm no expert, but here's what I learned:
Usually males have fewer feathers on the neck to leave more room for the caruncles (the red skin that looks like chewed gum). Males basically have more red and much more skin everywhere on the neck. So its easy to tell if they are side by side and startled. The one that looks like a #2 pencil eracer is the male. Females dont seem to get quite as red.

For my turkeys they all have a little snood bump, but only the male's ever gets larger or redder. Now, after a couple months my hen's bump is almost gone.
Also the male has a much more developed tail, as one would assume.

So just looking at your turkey nice and relaxed, with my limited experience... Going to guess a hen.
A male would have a larger wattle, much more skin under the beak connecting to the neck.

Hope that helps and if you see that skin under the beak or the little red bump just above the beak really start growing then its likely a Tom.

Now, maybe you can help me.
What are those mainly white chickens you have with the black feather tufts on their head?
They look an awful lot like a breed of chickens I found here in China and cant find a proper translation for.

Thanks~

thanks for the info! They are mottled houdans and im so upset because I only have 3 of them and they are all roosters :( And they are already fighting

I keep looking and her neck looks kind of red. I wish I could see what an 8 week boy looks like. This is so hard lmao

It isn't a bronze... maybe a Black Spanish or Blue Slate? It does have a hennish look, but I wouldn't bet on it until it's a little older. Cute little turkey though!

Thanks he/she is really sweet but does spin around and peep. Every time I pick her up and set her in my lap she falls asleep.
