What gender is this BLRW?

Oh dear, looks like I was wrong.

What is a hackle feathers? Sorry, I'm really bad at all these chicken terms.

This chick looks like it could be a pullet.

I don't think the hackle feathers are a a good indicator or deciding factor on a 6 week old wyandotte. If you look up other laced wyandotte chicks, you'll see that they all look like they have pointy hackle feathers at this age.

6 week old pullet:
sorry - can't get the link to copy & paste here - the comb, wattles, stance, & hackle feathers looked like yours to me - it was definitely a female - the poster also had its adult pictures posted.

6 week old cockerel - 2nd photo from the top (check out the wattles):

The chook looks like a hen to me but I've been surprised before!!!

The comb of the bird still looks like it has not turned red yet but from the side pic you can not even see the comb bump out of the feathers.

Does it cheep like a baby still or is it sound different. either higher or lower in tone. Lower my indecate male while higher means female.

Try the hold down method. Place your hands on back of bird. Grasp the wings w/ fingers and use thumbs to crouch it.

If he is a male he will protest. and try to get away sometimes he will feather dance after or lower wing after you let go.

If it is a girl she will spread the wings and crouch. she may make noise but not as much. She may even sit there an wait for a couple of seconds.

If it is a hen will you keep her?? Cause she is a keeper..

Plus the chook doesn't really have any noticable tail feahter that look male type yet.

So Female in my book!!
