What gender is this BLRW?

Wow everyone! So many opinions.

If it's a roo, it's definitely gotta find a new home...beautiful or not. A pullet will stand a somewhat better chance of staying here...but even that's if-y.

you cant really go by spurs some pullets develop them and they are not always small, and the opposite goes that some males will not devolope them so sorry but that is not a very reliable way to sex a chicken, but from the pics i would say pullet too as the comb almost looks to be non existant

The reason I'm considering re-homing "her" is because I don't want the heartache/drama of trying to introduce a lone pullet into my flock of older birds. I, personally, cannot put up with the harassment issues that go along with it....e.g. pecking, chasing, etc. I know that's part of owning chickens, but if I can avoid it I will.

I completely understand - I really hate it myself; unbearable at times. You just want to scoop up the ones being picked on and somehow try to protect them.

You do know that whoever you give or sell her to she will still be picked on?

Yes, I do realize that, and all of it is just a part of nature. But as I said, if I can avoid seeing/experiencing it then I will. I just don't have the heart to see any animal in distress of any type. If my Welsummer chick turns out to be a pullet too, then I'll keep them both and incorporate them. At least then there won't be a single target for the others to go after. If I had to just put this one pullet into the coop with the others, I'd feel like I was throwing her into the lion's den so to speak.
