What Gender is this buff Orpington?

Yes I tend to refer to all the boys I have hatched as Roasters even if we don't intend to eat them all initially!
We had one for Dinner tonight, one of the white ones below, The Orps are my youngest sons pets at the moment (no spurs yet).

Over here in the UK they are Cockerels but forum swear filters are often not intelligent enough to handle that word so Roasters covers it for me

Barring one of the SLWs and one of the Vorwerks these are all Freezer bound if I can't sell them or give them away.

in the US cockerels are males under a year old and roosters are males over a year old

Doh! sorry you are quite right I just assumed everyone referred to them as Roos for simplicity

Many people that have been into chickens for many years use cockerel for young boys and cocks for older boys. I often do as well.
