Hello! My name is Mason and I am trying to find out the gender of this 8 week old chick. I have been almost positive that she was a hen for the entire time Ive had her, but the last two days she has crowed. It wasnt a full on crow but a half crow and was very quiet compared to a older rooster. Both were at 9:30 am and only when people were outside looking at her. I know hens can crow but I dont know about this age. There is one other bird her age that I have that we are 95% sure is a roo and we had believed he was the one crowing but we were wrong. I do not know what breed she is because I hatched her myself. All I know is that her mother is a silver laced wyandotte and the father is either a lemon blue ameraucana or a part chantecler. I have pictures of her crown, wattles, tail feathers, and her hackle feathers and can get anymore pictures that anyone needs. Shes very sweet and will run up to you so there are no signs of aggression or fear in her.

I can give you a picture of the other chick, but the father was a buff orpington and he took on all of his traits. She is literally the only one that looks like this. There were only two chicks from this clutch of eggs.

Looking at him/her I thought EE which is consistent with the dad being Ameraucana? 8 weeks is a bit early to see gender, but very early for an EE to crow!... is the 'brown' on the wings more of a reddish brown?

Yes they are more of a reddish brown. In a few hours I can upload pictures of the mother and the father(s)
