Hi,
I have this beautiful 8-week old chick. I am unsure of the gender, the mums (2 possible) have straight combs while the dad has a bushy comb. The little muchkin has a straight comb, and its a bit bigger than the other 2 girls that were hatched. I am hoping 'it' is a girl, I've fallen in love with she/him sooo much.

I think it is a hen, but my yearling rooster had a hen tail for months until we saw him getting on the hens. It might be a mixed breed thing. Do you have any other roosters? because with the feathering of the darker hen, she must be the mom. But she doesn't have a straight comb and neither does the yellow roo. I also had a little rooster that had a poof on his head, but for a while had a straight comb. (tiny while)
Hope this helps! Sorry I'm all over the place :)

Thank you!! the 2 hens both hatched and their eggs got mixed, the little one in question was sitting with the yellow one, and the bubba has a straight comb (fingers crossed a girl), I've fallen in love with 'it', the bigger black one has a wonky straight comb.
I suppose I have to wait and see if it starts to crow, ill add another picture of the body size. Only the one bigger rooster, the other little roos hatched at the same time.

My rooster (little richard), had a mother with a Y comb because of the poof on her head, and the father I believe had a straight comb. your black hen may be a mix and that may be how the straight comb got in! Although don't worry too hard if it turns out to be a boy. My baby Blanche (a roo), is the absolute sweetest rooster on the planet. He has gotten a little jumpy since he started having more of the * ahem*, male traits, but has never attacked me or anything like that. Love hugging that little thing!
