We bought a farm late last fall and decided we wanted to raise and breed some chickens. We got some hatching eggs this spring hoping to breed Lav Orps next year however we got mostly males. Our regular breeder/supplier who has been excellent referred us to someone else as they had no Lav orps left and were not hatching anymore this year. We reached out and said she had 3 pullets left at 4 weeks of age. I was surprised that she could tell sex at that age but she said she was experienced and that females feather faster than males and mentioned a few other physical characteristics that checked out when doing research. When we arrived we found out she also breeds large dogs and were asked to remain at the porch while she got the chicks. We had driven a couple hours to get them and she put them in our crate and hurried us off as she said she had baked goods in the oven, as we were referred to her by someone we trust we thought nothing of it. With that we brought the chicks into the car and headed for home. We took them out of the carrier to have a second look and they look quite different from one another. We are no means experts but after getting a second look I am a bit un-easy if these are pullets as advertised.

I agree, too young to be able to tell with any certainty that they are female. But there are no obvious signs of being boys either at this age!😊

Thanks, I sure hope they're all pullets. We paid for pullets but more importantly my kids and well all of us will be disappointed if we can't breed orps next spring.

That is an odd situation and how she acted.
I'm hoping they are all pullets.
Please post pictures as they grow.
My biggest regret was not taking weekly pictures of my chicks. You are welcome to post weekly pictures of them.
