Well I'm sorry but I don't have females carrying Columbian however it's easy enough to just look it up with other breeds or other examples.

So you're saying that by adding only Columbian to a duckwing female, you deplete the patterning in the neck, but adding Melanizer throws it back in just the way it was, sans the Salmon?


I'm certainly no breeder, expert, or someone who really knows what goes on behind a true Ginger Red, but, pretty sure they or at least that example of a bird isn't e+/e+ Co/Co and s+/-

Male ginger reds have less black in them (the hackle especially) than Quails and even my simple restricted Araucana male or EE males, as if they are either Wheaten based or have Db in them. My Wheaten based boys with Columbian look more like Ginger Reds than my duckwings.

Now you've confused me

You're saying true ones have Db, which makes sense, but fake ones have Columbian? But you said earlier they have Columbian? (referring to true ones I'm assuming)




But anyway, I still strongly believe that the OP has a duckwing bird, no partridge. She is after all based from EE grandparents.

Autosomal red on silver can produce a cream color in females. Here are two young pullets that show this. The pictures does not do them justice-the flash causes more silver to show. I am working on the color-I will call the variety silver-cream.

have you discarted Dominant Dilute from the possibilities? they look cream to me but that is easily discarted.. so far this is THE FIRST TIME I have seen a Silver Columbian pullet that did not look Silver at all... this is a first for me and I believe autosomal red is not the only thing enhancing the girls pheomelanin..

here is a Buff cross to Silver White type hen. the boy is golden but hardly looks like it
