What genes do you suppose contribute to this color?

It is an unexpected variation that came out of my barred olive egger breeding pen.

The color and lacing is strikingly stunning................ was that the only on from that pairing ?? if so it was probably just a color outcrossing and may not happen again with such good results as that hen.

No, I would get these from time to time and give them away because they were wrong color, no barring. I finally decided to grow one out and see what they looked like. I really like how it looks. People aske me "what color do you call that" and I don't know. I say sorta burnt brownish color. She is a funny bird. She chases the sparrows away from the food sometimes, very smart, very funny, beautiful hen. Not laying yet. I'd like to see what color egg she lays. Hoping for decent olive egger color.

based on a first pass look at the photo I would think it is very similar to Brassy back which is created initially from a cross of black breasted red (wild type partridge) and black. If you work with them a short time they will breed true. the roosters of teh color are stunning.

To me she looks allot like a sliver ameraucana hen. Very lovely!
