What got them (kittens)

I am so sorry this happened to you. I had the very same thing happen just 2 months ago. I thought the building (old coop) they were in was safe. It was for over a month! Then one morning I found exactally what you did. It was the worst thing I had ever seen. I was home alone so I couldn't pass the clean up on to my hubby. I posted here and the general consensus was that it was a tomcat. We don't have any but the man down the road must. Now I have a new litter of very cute babies and the old coop is fixed up like Fort Knox!

They were inside a coop, but the mom moved them to under the house.
I cant keep cats in the house, 3 of the 5 people that live here are allgric to cats.

I've seen tomcats kill kittens before and it wasnt like this. Usually the tom cats got for the neck. There was no claw marks or anything on the kittens, just the open stomachs.

I would say skunk.

Had a skunk do that to some young Guinea's. The darn thing also pooped right near the bodies...so I had proof.

Usually when a tom kills kittens, its just to eliminate the offspring of another male; so the female will come back into heat and he can breed her. Toms usually go for the neck and also crush the skulls

When it happened to ours they were in a garage. Sad, but it IS interesting to see the consensus on what people think it was.
