what happend

I had a guinea sitting on ~22 eggs in the wood pile. Everything was going good up until the last week ( they would have hatched this week). She started leaving the eggs for a few hours and hanging out with the other 3 guineas. Then she just came back and stayed. I looked at the nest and there was only 3 eggs. Why would she leave them for a few hours everyday?

Did something (a predator, a dog etc ) take all but 3 eggs? If that's the case she knows it's not a safe place to brood a clutch and gave up on the nest. Something may have raided the nest at night while she was on it and spooked her, or something/someone could have bothered her too much in that spot and she decided it wasn't a safe enough/private enough place. It doesn't take much for Guinea Hen to lose interest in her clutch of eggs
