WHAT HAPPENED TO MY ROOSTERS TOE?

Could he have had something wrapped around the toe, perhaps a string, hair, or piece of plastic feed bag? When that happens, the toe tip can be strangulated and the tip can fall off. But the toe tip looks pink.
 
Our main flock's big rooster has two broken toes; one from fighting with another rooster and one from getting it wedged in a crack in a board then struggling to free himself. Both healed fine but are twisted to the side like your bird's toe. He limped a bit after each injury but chickens are apparently built different from me. He stopped limping within a week whereas I still complain about a toe I broke decades ago, usually when it's cold or we're expecting rain.
