Our Frost White Legbar pullet recently started laying, she's 4 months old. The eggs are white. I'm pretty disappointed as I was really looking forward to her laying blue eggs. I like Legbars anyway, and especially her, so its not a total big deal if she never lays blue ones, but I just wonder if maybe she hasn't matured enough yet? Just curious if anyone else has experienced this in breeds that are supposed to lay tinted eggs.

I have some EEs and coukoo marans.
Sometimes their eggs are lighter sometimes dark. Heat, molting, not enough water, calcium....I think the list goes on a bit. But you get the idea. It's probably the heat and her age. Be sure she has enough water, maybe add some vitamins if you don't already, and making sure she has lots of shady spots!

I would guess that she is not a frost legbar if she is not laying a blue tinted egg. Is there a tint at all? Pure white or....

X2.... it can help to look at the inside of the shell when dealing with blue tint....blue eggs are blue throughout vs brown that have pigment on the exterior pinky..... and set it against a paper towel

She is definitely a Frost White Legbar. I'll try to grab a picture of her later. I think Fields Mountain Farm might be right about the heat and age..it has been so hot over the past few weeks, and our Welsummer hen lost the beautiful tint in her eggs too...I blamed it on heat, or maybe hormones, as she's now broody. Our FWL Shamrock's eggs are not blue at all that I can tell, but they are bright white Not dull white like a hen that would lay white eggs. The flock has lots of shade. I'll try the vitamins. Thanks for the input, all!
