What happened? What is this

I am new to hatching eggs. I usually leave it up to mom. But I got some extra eggs so I put them in an incubator, it held temp and humidity well, I even had backup meters. 2 eggs never developed. One did. At 24 days I candled my egg and saw no movement, but i could see she had made it through the aircell. She was moving fine at day 20. So I poked a hole in the large side to get air into the egg, being much too late I am sure. I was able to se the chicks very twisted beak and odd looking egg tooth. So i pealed the egg back further to see more. She obviosly hadnt made it.

I was devastated, I have been staring at this lone egg for days now. But I had to see the whole thing to get a better idea of what could have happened. I very carefully pulled the egg shell away from the membrane. Then carefully pulling the membrane apart the see what might have happened. I am now just so confused. What did happen? Any ideas?

You did everything you could, sometimes even when momma hens hatch babies some don’t make it. It just looks like something didn’t delevope all the way, either on the baby or in the egg. Did you use both your chickens or bought eggs?

I purchased through a local breeder. This wasn't the only one with cross beak. Mama, losses one to cross beak too. It never made it out. But it didn't look like this
