This duckling is a Khaki Campbell and Welsh Harlequin mix.
I've never seen any like this that I've hatched in the past. They've always been brown with light brown or tan-ish chest spots. Sometimes they've even looked like mallard ducklings.

Does anyone know what happened to the genes to produce this duckling??

That is a dusky. It had to get it from mom and dad. The Harlequin gene is recessive so it doesn’t show up. He or she will grow up to look like a Khaki but without the sex-linked brown. Was the Khaki your female or male? I only know it is a Dusky because this is my little one I hatched five days ago:

Mine is a Dutch Hookbill. They often come in Dusky if you want to google what color yours will be grown up.
