What has been your favorite part of your coop builds?

What's been your favorite functional part?
That I spent ~6 months reading here, and other poultry forums,
reading about the good the bad and the ugly before I started to build.
Tho that was second nature to me as an industrial designer.

Your favorite aesthetic?
My nest bank, inspired by the old metal nests my big brother had that first saw as a teen.

Walk in coops. Poop boards, and adequate ventilation.

But most importantly. Build with ventilation and predator proofing in mind. It's easier than modifying a build.

Like aart, I read and researched extensively before I started building. Built my first, and then second.. now I'm on my third which will be completed in the spring. This coop will be 12x12, with a 12x20 covered run.

For my main coop, Neuchickenstein,

#1. The roof and ventilation design, which takes advantage of natural airflow and local microclimate. Despite being in full sun with the wall you see facing west(ish), inside the coop is the coolest place in the yard on blistering-hot summer days.

#2. The flexibility offered by it's sheer size (16'x16'). I've got 19 adults in there under protective lockdown against Avian Flu and don't have to worry about crowding issues.

#3. Giant roof overhangs. I can get eggs or walk the whole way around the coop on a rainy day without getting wet.

I'm working on the coop page, but you can see all the main features here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/hot-climate-chicken-housing-and-care.77263/

For my first coop, The Little Monitor Coop:

#1. The monitor roof. Absolutely draft-free ventilation exactly where it's needed most.

#2. The remodeled nests with the front-drop-down door.

#3. The huge access door you can't see in the above photo, which makes it easy to clean.
