What hatchery did you use?

I have always gotten my spring chicks from McMurray. I have never had a problem with hatchery or the chicks. I do have a problem with the USPS! They don't do well tracking the live shipments.

What you ordered: RIR, Jersey Giants, Wyandottes, Barred Rock, Plymouth Rock, Buff Orpington - many breeds over the years.
Positive Feedback: Birds always healthy and active.
Negative Feedback: Mix up with Buff Orps and Buff Rocks. Ordered BO and got yellow legged Buff Rocks. Complete refund and very apologetic about it.

Positive Feedback: they were very healthy. i think i lost one. the crevesors (sp?) from the top hat special were the only weak ones. customer service was fine.

Other info: the ameraucanas were more ee's. some lay blue some lay green and i have some that lay pink. the ee's were shades of gold thru dark brown.
Will you order from them again? after this experience, i did.

Negative Feedback: i ordered white and black silkies. i sold most of the silkies because they had pink skin.

Negative Feedback: that they tack on $6 extra if you don't buy a full 25 for each breed.

Negative Feedback: none really. i thought it strange that usps ships from elgin (right outside austin) to dallas to get to houston when houston is only 2-3 hours drive.
Other info: the order did come 10 short of birds and it took a couple of days to get them to call me back to get the refund. they are a mom and pop place so patience is a virtue but they always call back. great customer service.

Positive feedback: all the chicks were alive and healthy, including the FIVE extra they sent. Also I called probably 7 times just to ask questions and all7 times they were VERY nice.
Negative feedback: Nothing
Other info: You have to atleast order 25 CHICKS. Ducks and other things are less.

Just going to add some comments..

For the Privett order who got banty roosters - I don't think they sex bantams, only standards..but not 100% certain. I know most hatcheries don't.

For the Ideal order that said they forgot the grogel - did you look under the excelsior pad..that is where they usually put it, so the chicks don't poop directly on it.

Positive Feedback: Chicks were very healty and lively, but one. Did a refund on wrong breed. All the males were marked and I didnt ask for it, the extras were pullets (even though they were the wrong breed). shipping is included in the price of the chicks.
Negative Feedback: customer service could have been better, I ordered 5 welsummer pullets and 2 cocks but I got 8 speckled sussex pullets and one welsummer cock. One SLW cock came with splayed leg and eventually died but they did not refund or credit me because she said it was an "extra" even thought that was the breed I ordered. To me it was not an extra.. and they charge you extra for every breed you order under 5.
Will you order from them again? Because the birds were so healthy and the guy I dealt with later on, Brian, was very efficient, nice and apologetic about the mix up I would order from them at least once more.
