What hatchery do you order from?

I had good results from my order with My Pet Chicken last year. Healthy birds, nice variety (got a special sale price, too, on a mixed assortment of females) and really fun to see what I ended up with. Several roosters in with my supposedly all-female order, but I know that happens with all sexed chick orders....

Ordered from Purely Poultry once, and wasn't able to get most of the breeds I'd ordered due to hatcheries not able to come through!? But the man who owns it is really great with working out solutions, and I'd give them another try without fear. If it happened twice, I'd cancel my order and go elsewhere.

IDEAL-POULTRY!!! Ideal has great service and great healthy chicks. Our feed store orders from Ideal and we order from Ideal and I will always order from Ideal. Ideal also has their own breeding birds unlike MPC etc.

Oh! I should have added them into my post, because when I get chicks from my feed store they come from Ideal. Got some roosters in with their female chicks as well. Like I said though, that seems to be really common. I'd hate to have to sex chicks!

I have only ordered from two hatcheries ever. Ideal, this year and E-Fowl two years ago. I do not plan on ordering from a hatchery again.

For hatchery birds, I picked up 12 Silver Spangled Hamburgs at Meyer in Polk, Ohio and we still have every single bird over 8 weeks later. Very hardy chicks. We also got a free kitten while we were there.

I also get turkeys and some Barred rocks from Eagle Nest Poultry in Oceola, Ohio. I would highly recommend them for folks interested in meat birds, dependable egg layers, and 4H projects. They are a no-frills operation, but their birds are excellent.
