I am looking to buy one each of the following breeds: Domonique, Ameraucana, Buff Orphington, and Silver Laced Wyandotte. I can find each of the breeds other than Ameraucana as I look thorugh hatchery websites. Where can I find Ameraucanas??

Hatchery-bred Ameraucanas are actually truly easter eggers (EEs), although you won't get the hatcheries to admit that! Ideal sells Ameraucanas as Ameraucanas - others sell them as Araucanas. Good luck!

Meyer hatchery in Polk ohio, sells all three breeds (four?) That u mentioned. I just got 11 dominques, 11 buff orpingtons, and 11 silver laced wyandottes, and yes, they carry the Ameraucana "easter egg layer"... For 10 or less they are only $2.70 per chick. The dominiques are and wyandottes are same price while the buff orps are $2.53... Is price break 11 and over... Hth. Mine are all great healthy birds, very happy with them (and this is first time with chickens!)

If you're looking for nice birds that lay good and want some colored eggs, then the hatchery easter eggers will work just fine. Many will look very similar to the actual ameraucana breed. However, if you want chickens that are fine examples of their breed, then you will not likely be happy with any hatchery stock for any of the strains you're looking for. If your main interest is in getting eggs, go for the hatchery stock. If you want to show your birds or breed towards the standard of perfection, then private breeders are the better choice.
