What have I created!?!

My Crevecoeur/cuckoo Marans chicks are hatching today!!!

The first one out is...interesting.

First of all, it has a white (!?!) crest, but the crest is not on top of its head. It's on the back of the head.

Second of all, it has a very strange little comb.

It is definitely bearded! The mother Crevecoeur also had white spots on her as a chick, even though now she is solid black. Her beard was white until it feathered out as black.

HA! That's a funny lookin' little chirp! They're ALL sweet as heck, IMO, though! Will be interesting to see what this one look like as an adult! My Marans sometimes have single combs that sorta look folded over like this the first few days.

What a cute baby!! I don't know about crested chickens, have never had any, but I have 2 crested drakes and ones crest sits right on top its head, (like its supposed to), but the other ones crest is way back on its head, closer to his neck than his head.l I'm excited to see what this little guy will look like when grown.
