Ok, we already did the chicken math, went from 13 adults to having 41 chicks in the brooder right now. (we wont go there with the geese).

I got a free incubator this year, been running for about 4 weeks. Tried to incubate some of my own eggs (I had a 50/50 shot or less of fertility)... NOTHING! not a one even started [IMG] Turned it off. figured I would try next year when these babies were producing... turned it back on last week b/c I had a goose that was laying but couldn't quite go broody, so I was going to set them Sunday.... Well, she decided to go broody Sunday...

Now, I have a heated incubator, no eggs [IMG] Don't really need more chickens right now.... would really like to try silkies for their broodiness.... looking, looking, looking..... himmm haaaawww.... look I won a Ebay for a dozen silkies for .99 and 15 shipping... [IMG]

Great, my first true test of me incubating will be for purchased eggs of birds I don't even need [IMG]

Oh dear, wait until DH sees them in the mail [IMG]

Anyone purchase from bettergreatstuff before? She said her's are "White and Black roosters over white, black ,light and dark partridge hens"

Quote:Sounds like my DH. But he knows that if he pulled a stunt like that I'd put an ad on craigslist and sell every single thing in his garage ... and keep the money to myself to buy more eggs and chickens!!! LOL

We got back from a weekend away on Sunday, and my frizzle eggs were waiting on the porch. My husband looked at them, looked at me, and walked inside silently. He has a lot of bad habits, but BOY is he accepting of my chicken habit!!

I really want to try some silkies, too! Good luck with your hatch!!!

Pffft they were .99 cents!!! He should be encouraging you! Just tell him you will sell most of the chicks and then see if he enforces it once the babies hatch lol.

I have my 1 bater running with eggs in it and looking for eggs to fill up my Sportsman I just got which is on for a test run.

Hubby asked me when I was going to be done hatching eggs. I just kind of lifted an eyebrow and said I wasn't sure, so he walked away saying that's what he thought. Didn't look too happy with my answer.

I've had some not so good hatches this month. It's been bothering me, so he said when he gets paid, he'll take care of bills and I can start ordering more eggs and go to the auction. [IMG] Yesterday I got 15 eggs and he just kind of smiled and asked if any more were on the way. Silly man! I told him I was waiting for him to fund my addiction. He just walked away smiling saying that's what he thought.

Today I saw the mail truck and bolted for the door. He had scissors waiting for me to come in with a box of eggs. He was really surprised when I didn't have a box and laughed at me. He said I ran so fast he was sure there were more eggs.

I don't know why he would have thought that. [IMG] My next order isn't due till friday [IMG]

Hope I get them while he's gone.

Oh thank you so much for your support [IMG]

Quote:Yeah, well he'll see the 15 in shipping and then wait to see how many I actually hatch [IMG] Hopefully pullets so I can tell him, this is why I wanted silkies, so they can keep the flock going by hatching the eggs for us [IMG]
