What have you done for your chickens today?

Today, I raked out their runs, and I cleaned out the baby coop, and I fed and watered both groups of chickens. Also, I just talked with them and kept them company for a bit......

That's about it!

Put the "wading pool" in each run under the shade cloth. It was 100 today, so they were quite relieved. The wading pool is a 2'x3'x6" bin with a concrete rock in it and about a couple inches of water. First they just drank and drank- I have nipple waterers, and the chickens like the mouth feel of standing water so they indulged. Then they would stand in the water for a while. A good thing in this heat. When the pools get nasty I will collect the water to feed the garden and give them clean.

Worked on the new coop for my chicks that are ready to go outside! They are still out there in the coop part...still need to finish the run. I'll check on them about 45 times tonight and make sure they arent shivering. Im a very nervous momma.

OK so went out to check the little darlings...its about 45 out side and my silkies are peep peeeep peeeeeeeeping and the OEG bantam roo is poking his little head out of the chicken wire on the door at me to pick him up. So back into the kitchen they went lol They have me so well trained

that is so cute! I wished mine had come out "cute or pretty", heck I would have settled for "not ugly" .
