My agriculture class is getting ready to have a plant sale soon and my teacher gave me the assignment to find out how much green houses are selling their six packs and trays of plants for. He wanted us to go to actual greenhouses but I'm not familiar with the area where my school is so I figured I'd ask you guys.

If you've bought plants recently at a green house in a little six pack or a flat, could you let me know how much you paid? We don't want to over charge people at the plant sale! Thanks!

Last year I paid $11.99 per flat of annuals. Sometimes I've gotten lucky and got them for $9 on sale. This price has been pretty stable for the past few years. I have noticed that a lot of the pony packs have gone from 6 plants to 4 plants, some even just 3.

I paid $1.80 for 4 packs for peppers. Some kinds did not come in 4 packs and those cost $3.00 for a single plant, speciality plants were $4.00 for single plants. Tomato plants were from 4/1.80 up to $9.98 for a large plant with blooms. Most of ours come from one company, Bonnie Farms, that sells to all the major stores (Lowes, Walmart, Coop, HomeDepot). At our local flea market the prices are less.

I have noticed more limiting of the types of plants available. I would suggestion if you have the facilities to grow some very early tomato plants, you may have to pot them a couple of times but you could make big bucks from one seed. I would also suggest having some favorite brands but also having some heirloom plants such as Brandywine or Purple Cheerokee Tomatoes and some newer hybrids such as gypsy sweet peppers and the newest hottest pepper. I wouldn't plant as many of these types though.

A local high school here grows plants for hanging baskets that are reasonably priced and available around Mother's day.

Hope this info helps.

I got some veggies for .99 per 6/pack on sale, regular price was just under $2.00. Common annuals I pay about 1.50-2.00/pack. I think most places a flat runs about 10-12 dollars, possibly up to $17 at some of the more expensive stores.

Farmers market is .99 for one little plant in a tiny cell. Four pack would be $1.99 and a six pack would be $4.99 and a flat would be $15.99. For special plants they would range from $2.99 to 10.99.

The little MA & PA store near me sells their 6 pack of annuals for $3.29 each or $19. per flat of 6. They have a small greenhouse and buy their plants from a wholesale greenhouse. The bigger nursery close by sells for about $3.99 a 6 pack.

I haven't been this year, but for the past several, the locally owned nursery sold six-packs for $2.95. I think another locally owned greenhouse is slightly cheaper.

No one has 6 packs here this year. It's all 4 packs or single larger plants. I have yet to find a single vendor with pepper plants being sold except as the large jiffy pots. Those are from $2.89 to $3.99 each , depending on the store. I left them there and bought seeds to start at home, though they'll go out late.

Tomatoes have been running 4 for around $3-4. Too high. I only bought two types. I have plenty of heirloom seedlings. Had they been a more reasonable price, I'd have bought
more.
